Update: March 21st, 2009

Return to How to Install WordPress onto Shared Hosting: Sign-up for a Hosting Account

Now that you have a hosting account, you need to configure it to be able to run WordPress. WordPress is built with PHP 5, so the first step is to enable PHP 5 on your hosting account:

  1. parcom-domain-ws On the Domain Menu page, click the Web Site Settings icon.
  2. parcom-ws On the Web Site Settings page, check the option for Website Write Permissions and put “index.php” into the Default Docs list. In the Website Extensions section, turn off everything except PHP, which needs to be set to Version 5.
