What are the best transformations in Black Myth Wukong? The Destined One has the unique ability to transform into some of his enemies, giving you complete control over a different character with a unique moveset. These transformations can easily turn the tide of battle in your favor, so it’s important to pick the right one for the occasion.
When you shape-shift into a different being in Black Myth Wukong, your health bar is replaced with a new one, creating opportunities where you can stage a comeback from the brink of death. This new form lasts until your stamina bar depletes, or when you lose all your health. The best transformations are vital when attempting to take down the Black Myth Wukong bosses, and you can take things a step further by upgrading your skills and abilities.
Here are all the transformations in Black Myth Wukong:
- Wolf Guai: Red Tides
- Rock Guai: Azure Dust
- Yin Tiger: Ebon Flow
- Monk from the Sea: Hoarfrost
- Macaque Chief: Umbral Abyss
- Worm Guai: Violet Hail
- Stone Monkey: Azure Dome
Wolf Guai: Red Tides
The Wolf Guai transformation is unlocked within the first hour of the game after you defeat Guangzhi, and it’s going to be your only transformation until you reach Chapter 2. Equipped with a double-sided fiery blade, this weapon is capable of burning enemies if you inflict them with enough Scorch Bane. Your light attack is perfect for inflicting Scorch Bane, dealing multiple hits during its combo string without using a lot of stamina. The heavy attack shoots towards the enemy, inflicting damage while keeping away from the enemy, but this comes with a decent stamina cost.
While transformed, your focus gauge builds as you deal damage, unlocking the spinning cyclone attack. This move is performed by dodging and immediately following it up with a heavy attack, drilling into the targeted enemy with a multi-hitting combo. Alternatively, you can spend your focus meter on a single heavy attack, dealing a large amount of Scorch Bane.
The burning effect is crucial against bosses weak to fire, providing you with an easy way to win these fights. Generally speaking, if the boss has fur, there’s a good chance you can set it on fire. Be warned, however, that the Black Bear Guai fight may seem like a good place to use this transformation, but it actually makes the fight harder by angering the boss. As we recommend for all tricky boss fights, it’s always worth swapping out your transformations depending on the situation, which leads us to our next option.
Rock Guai: Azure Dust
Unlocked by completing the option Man-In-Stone side quest, the Rock Guai: Azure Dust transformation unlocks a defensive option in your tool set. Turning the Destined One into a large boulder, your light attack hits enemies with a headbutt, dealing additional damage after each blow. As for your heavy attack, you charge forward, damaging any enemies that stand in your path. Unlike the Wolf Guai transformation, you also have access to a spell that launches you into the air, dealing AoE damage as you slam into the ground.
The main ability that we want to make use of is its transformation trait, granting immunity to all four status effects. This doesn’t come into play during the first two chapters, but it certainly has its place later in the game where the bosses try to hurt you with these ailments. Taking constant poison or burning damage can be more difficult to deal with rather than focusing on the right time to dodge.
Macaque Chief: Umbral Abyss
Another combat-driven transformation earned upon the conclusion of Chapter 3, this transforms you into the Macaque Chief, fit with a frozen blade and an immunity to frost. The Macaque Chief’s blade has a longer reach compared to the Destined One’s staff, making it easy to keep your distance while slashing away at enemies. Each attack builds frost bane, allowing you to freeze enemies in place with enough attacks. Similar to the Wolf Guai, light attacks deal multiple hits, heavy attacks are slow and powerful.
Macaque Chief has access to two spells: Cold Heart and Cold Resolution. The former triggers the Cold-Hearted state, powering up your blade attacks and upgrading your dodge move. The latter closes the gap between you and your enemies, positioning you in the perfect place to deal massive damage. This transformation is key against certain enemies where you’d prefer to create some distance between yourself and the boss.
And those are some of the best Black Myth Wukong transformations. Understanding not only what transformation to use but when, and upgrading it using your Sparks is the key to victory. Picking the right transformation is just as important as ensuring you have the best armor and best abilities at your disposal.
