This is roughly three months later and is followed usually with minimal downtime. Typically, only end-of-chapter seasons and unforeseen events cause significant downtime, but make sure to check our Fortnite server status guide if you’re having trouble getting in. We anticipate the game will be down between 1am PDT / 4am EDT / 9am BST and will likely return online a few hours later.
As soon as the Fortnite servers go offline, Epic Games will roll out the next update that players can download, ready for the Chapter 5 Season 5 launch. Previous updates have usually been around 95GB, so depending on your download speed, this may take a while. As with the beginning of every season, there will be a queue to get in at first while the servers deal with a massive number of people booting up the game at once.

According to a leak from ShiinaBR, the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 5 sees the return of Fortnite OG, much to the delight of Fortnite veterans. We don’t know what that means for the Fortnite map, but the first OG season brought back fan-favorite POIs from the very early days of the multiplayer game. It’s unlikely we’ll get the same map again, but perhaps we’ll see the return of a new rotation of classic locations.
